As communities like Water Gypsy & Third Gender are socially excluded & politically ignored, they are being deprived of many social & civil benefits & facilities. We have taken a stand beside these underprivileged groups. We are arranging citizen dialogues, awareness campaign, maintaining govt. liaison for building acceptance, ensuring inclusion & basic social & human rights for these communities. We are conducting baseline surveys, qualitative-quantitative research, creating various database among these marginalized groups to find out optimal solution- community mobilization & development plan for them. Also, arranging awareness sessions, motivational sessions, cultural activities for their inner development & for building trust & cooperation with them.
A large scale, visionary plan is in action for the livelihood & rehabilitation of Third Gender & Water Gypsy community as they are marginalized & socially excluded in our country. Currently 4 Beauty Parlor & 3 dairy farms, a Boutique House is running profitably by the members of Third Gender community. Besides, males from Water Gypsy community got appointed in Uttaran Factory & got job through ‘Qualification Based Employment Opportunity’ project. Females received sewing machine & many got appointed in Uttaran Fashion House. More than 700 people become self-dependent from these communities under this program, therefore leaving their previous illegal businesses like drug trading & hijacking.
Future Bangladesh along with Uttaran Foundation conducting Education & Training Program for the underprivilege & destitute peoples from Water Gypsy & Third Gender communities. Currently 9 projects are ongoing under this program including vocational training, primary education, IT training. In total 633 people from these marginalized communities have received vocational training & successfully placed in different jobs. Also, we are working on providing the basic education & rehabilitation for the Sex Worker children in Daulatdia brothel.
Besides our long-term programs, Future Bangladesh & Uttaran Foundation has been always reaching to the door of helpless peoples in an emergency. In an emergency, we always stay standby, workday & night and reach out in even the remotest corner of the country. In recent COVID-19 pandemic crisis, we reached out in 23 districts, provided food support to more than 18000 people of Gypsy, Third Gender, Sex Worker and ultra-poor so far, in collaboration with City Bank Ltd, Partex Group, Chowdhury Cam Textile.
